By New NP Student Shabnam Sabur
My favorite part of starting a new school year has always been back-to-school shopping. Everything is shiny and clean and new—what’s not to love? I’ll be starting my nurse practitioner program in a few weeks and wanted to share a list of things that I think every new grad student should have. I wanted the list to be practical, but also wanted to share items that are cute and fun! I hope you guys enjoy and please feel free to comment and share items that you think are an absolute must for a new school year.
Flats, flats, flats!
I love shoes just as much as the next girl. Here are a few pairs I found stylish yet comfortable enough to walk around campus in all day:
Affordable
Lucky Brand Emmie Flats $59, Sperry Boat Shoe $52-$87, and TOMS ‘Classic’ Slip-On $47-$58
Splurge
MICHAEL Michael Kors Fulton Moc $99-$110, Tory Burch Reva Ballet Flat $225-$235, and Tieks $175
Stylish Agenda
I have vowed to be more organized as a grad student than I was in undergrad, so a planner is a must! These planners come with stickers and fun quotes that make organizing much more exciting:
Affordable
Ban.do 17 Month Classic Agenda $20, Lilly Pulitzer Agenda $22-$34, and Moleskine Weekly Planner $24
Splurge
Kate Spade 17 Month Agenda $30-$36 and Paper Source 12 Month Planners $20-$40
Messenger Bag
I needed something to safely carry my laptop, books, water bottle, keys, etc so I placed an order online for a Timbuk2 messenger bag this week. I’m putting these handmade in San Francisco bags in both the affordable and splurge categories because there’s a comfortable price for everyone. And, even better, you can create your own customized bag if you want! $49-$269
